1.2 Using This Manual
This manual describes how to install and operate the Powerware 9390 160 kVA IAC. Read
and understand the procedures described in this manual to ensure trouble-free installation
and operation.
The information in this manual is divided into the sections and chapters listed. At a
minimum, Chapters 1 through 3 and Chapter 5 should be examined.
쑺 Chapter 1, “Introduction” – provides a brief description of the IAC, a description of the
content of each chapter, text conventions used in the manual, safety warnings, and
reference information.
Section I, Installation
쑺 Chapter 2, “IAC Installation Plan and Unpacking” – explains how to prepare the site for
the installation of the IAC. It discusses equipment environmental requirements,
inspecting, and unpacking cabinets.
쑺 Chapter 3, “Installing the IAC” – describes how to install and wire the IAC.
Section II, Operation
쑺 Chapter 4, “Understanding IAC Operation” – provides information on how an IAC
works.
쑺 Chapter 5, “IAC Features, Co ntrols, and Operation” – describes the standard and
optional IAC features, the IAC controls, and how to use the IAC.
쑺 Chapter 6, “ Maintaining the IAC” – contains maintenance instructions for the IAC.
쑺 Chapter 7, “Product Specifications” – provides specifications for the IAC.
쑺 Appendix A, “Installation Information” – contains important information on wiring
requirements and recommendations, and important d iagrams of the cabinets’
mechanical details and electrical access.

Read through each procedure before beginning the procedure. Perform only those
procedures that apply to the IAC being installed or operated.
