9315 UPS (500–750 kVA) Installation and Operation Manual S 164201691 Rev 2 www.powerware.com
12-16
12.11 X-Slot Cards
The Powerware 9315 UPS has one factory‐installed X-Slot communication bay. See
Figure A‐13 on page A-23 for the bay location. The UPS is compatible with the
following X-Slot cards (see Figure 12‐6):
NOTE Only one of the following cards can be installed in the X-Slot at a time.
S Power Xpert Gateway Card - provides a data gateway from the UPS to the Power
Xpert Software; provides remote monitoring through a Web browser interface,
e-mail, and a network managment system using SNMP; connects to a twisted-pair
Ethernet (10/100BaseT) network. Modbus TCP support provides direct integration
of the UPS's parameters to a Building Management System (BMS). It has a built-in
switching hub that allows a second network device to be connected to the
network without the requirement of an additional network drop.
S ConnectUPS-X Web/SNMP Card - has SNMP and HTTP capabilities as well as
monitoring through a Web browser interface; connects to a twisted-pair Ethernet
(10/100BaseT) network. It has a built-in switching hub that allows three additional
network devices to be connected to the network without the requirement of
additional network drops. In addition, a Powerware Environmental Monitoring
Probe (EMP) can be attached to obtain humidity, temperature, smoke alarm, and
security information.
S Relay Interface Card (AS/400) - has isolated dry contact (Form-C) relay outputs for
UPS status: Utility failure, Low battery, UPS alarm/OK, or On bypass when
interfacing with IBM
®
AS/400 computers, other relay connected computers, and
industrial applications.
S Modbus Card - provides direct integration of UPS information (meters and status) to
a BMS using the Modbus RTU protocol.
S Multi-Server Card - has six serial communication ports that can communicate
simultaneously with other computers using Powerware LanSafe
®
Power
Management Software (provided on the Software Suite CD).
S Modem Card - provides out-of-band remote notification and monitoring using
modem communication directly to cell phones and pagers.
S Single-Port Card - provides serial communication.
LAN and telephone drops for use with X-Slot cards must be provided by facility
planners or the customer.
For installation and setup of an X-Slot card, please contact Eaton (see page 1-7). Refer
to the manual supplied with the X-Slot card for user instructions.
